Viper Motorcycle Helmet Size Guide

Not sure what size Viper motorcycle helmet you need? Measure around the widest part of your head, just above your eyebrows and ears, then compare your measurement with the relevant Viper helmet size chart below. Most Viper helmets use similar measurements from XS to Large, but XL and XXL can differ between models.

Our guide covers Viper full-face, flip-front, adventure and Bluetooth motorcycle helmets, including the F656, F242, RX-V288, RSV95, RSV141, RSV255, RSV345, F659 and RSV121. Find your model below and check the corresponding size chart before ordering.

Viper Motorcycle Helmet Size Charts by Model

Important: All measurements are head circumferences in centimetres, not the outside dimensions of the helmet. Use the chart for your particular model rather than assuming every Viper helmet has identical sizing.

Viper F656, RX-V288 and RSV141 Size Chart

The following Viper motorcycle helmets use an XL reference measurement of 61 cm:

  • Viper F656 Vintage
  • Viper RX-V288 / RXV288 Enduro
  • Viper RSV141 BL+ Bluetooth
Helmet Size Head Circumference
XS 53–54 cm
S 55–56 cm
M 57–58 cm
L 59–60 cm
XL 61 cm

The F656 is a retro-style full-face helmet, while the RX-V288 is an adventure and enduro design. The RSV141 BL+ features built-in Bluetooth communication equipment.

Although the published head measurements match, these helmets have different shell designs and internal padding, so they won't necessarily feel identical when worn.

Note: The published charts checked for these models end at XL. If your head measurement is larger, check the individual product's current sizing information rather than assuming XXL follows the standard Viper measurements.

Viper F242, RSV95, RSV345 and RSV255 Size Chart

These Viper helmets use XL at 61–62 cm and list XXL / 2XL at 63 cm in their published model specifications.

This chart applies to:

  • Viper F242 Reverse Flip
  • Viper RSV95 Full Face
  • Viper RSV345 Flip Front
  • Viper RSV255 Reactor
Helmet Size Head Circumference
XS 53–54 cm
S 55–56 cm
M 57–58 cm
L 59–60 cm
XL 61–62 cm
XXL / 2XL 63 cm

The F242 and RSV345 are flip-front helmets, while the RSV95 and RSV255 Reactor are full-face designs. All four use the same measurements in the chart above, but their different interiors may affect the final fit.

Some retailer charts give the RSV255's XXL measurement as 63–64 cm rather than 63 cm. If you're choosing that size, check the information supplied with the particular helmet.

A 62 cm head circumference corresponds to XL in this group, whereas the first group lists XL at 61 cm.

Viper F659 and RSV121 v8 Bluetooth Size Chart

The following models use the more familiar Viper sizing pattern, including XXL at 63–64 cm:

  • Viper F659 Premium Retro
  • Viper RSV121 v8 BL+ Bluetooth
Helmet Size Head Circumference
XS 53–54 cm
S 55–56 cm
M 57–58 cm
L 59–60 cm
XL 61–62 cm
XXL / 2XL 63–64 cm

Although these models share the same published head circumference measurements, the F659's retro full-face design and RSV121's flip-front construction can feel different when worn.

What About Other Viper Helmet Models?

Viper has produced many motorcycle helmets, including the F660 Vintage, RSV191 Bluetooth, RSV353 Revert-X, RSV06 Plus, RSV19, RS66 and several older RS and RSV models.

The sizing charts above cover models for which we have identified specific head measurements. Some other Viper helmets use similar sizes, but the information isn't sufficiently consistent to assign every model to a particular chart.

If your helmet isn't listed above, check the sizing label, original documentation or individual product information before choosing a size. Don't assume the measurements are identical just because the helmet carries the Viper name.

How to Measure Your Head for a Viper Helmet

You'll need a flexible tape measure, preferably the type used for sewing. If you haven't got one, a piece of string and a ruler will do the job.

  1. Position the tape: Wrap it around the widest part of your head, just above your eyebrows and ears.
  2. Keep it level: Make sure the tape passes around the back of your head without slipping upwards or downwards.
  3. Measure carefully: Hold the tape snugly against your head without pulling it excessively tight.
  4. Record your measurement: Write down your head circumference in centimetres.
  5. Check again: Repeat the measurement two or three times to confirm the result.
  6. Find your model: Compare your measurement with the correct Viper size chart above, then try the helmet on to check its fit.

If possible, ask someone to help. It's surprisingly easy to position a tape measure incorrectly when doing it yourself.

How Should a Viper Motorcycle Helmet Fit?

A properly fitted Viper motorcycle helmet should feel snug and secure without causing painful pressure points. It should move with your head rather than sliding around independently.

  • Forehead and temples: The lining should make firm, even contact without painful pressure.
  • Cheeks: The cheek pads on full-face and flip-front helmets should feel snug against your face.
  • Crown: There shouldn't be noticeable gaps between your head and the internal lining.
  • Movement: With the chin strap correctly fastened, gently move the helmet from side to side and forwards and backwards. It should remain securely positioned.
  • Comfort: Wear the helmet indoors for a while to check whether uncomfortable pressure develops.

A helmet that's already loose when new isn't a good starting point, because the comfort padding may settle further with use.

What If You're Between Two Viper Helmet Sizes?

If your head measurement falls between two published sizes, try both where possible.

Don't automatically choose the larger size simply because it's easier to put on. A correctly fitted motorcycle helmet should feel secure without excessive movement.

Equally, don't force yourself into a helmet that causes painful pressure. The internal shape may not be suitable for your head, even if the chart suggests the size should fit.

The helmet's protective EPS liner isn't designed to compress to accommodate an incorrectly sized helmet.

How Do You Know If a Viper Helmet Is Too Big?

A Viper helmet may be too large if it slides onto your head with very little resistance, moves independently of your head or feels loose around your cheeks and forehead.

With the chin strap securely fastened, gently move the helmet from side to side and forwards and backwards. Excessive movement may indicate an unsuitable size or shape.

Remember that the internal comfort padding can settle with use, making an already loose helmet feel even looser.

How Do You Know If a Viper Helmet Is Too Small?

A helmet that's too small may cause painful pressure around your forehead, temples or the sides of your head.

Some initial firmness is normal, particularly around the cheek pads, but persistent discomfort isn't something you should simply put up with.

The comfort padding may settle slightly with use, but the protective EPS liner shouldn't be stretched, crushed or modified to make a helmet fit.

For more advice, read our guide to dealing with a tight motorcycle helmet.

Do Viper Flip-Front Helmets Fit Differently?

Viper produces several flip-front and reverse-flip helmets, including the F242, RSV345 and RSV121.

Some models have different sizing measurements, so don't assume that the same letter size will fit identically across the range.

When trying on a flip-front helmet, check that it fits securely with the chin bar closed and that the retaining strap is correctly fastened.

If the helmet is approved for riding with the chin bar open, follow the manufacturer's instructions for that configuration. Never assume every flip-front helmet is approved for open-face riding.

Can You Wear Glasses With a Viper Helmet?

Many riders wear prescription glasses with their Viper motorcycle helmets, although comfort depends on the particular model, your glasses and your head shape.

Try the helmet with your normal glasses where possible. Make sure the arms don't create painful pressure around your temples and that your glasses remain correctly positioned.

Viper Helmet Sizing FAQs

Are Viper motorcycle helmets true to size?

Viper publishes head circumference measurements for its helmets, but some models differ in the larger sizes. Always use the chart for your particular model and try the helmet on wherever possible.

What size Viper helmet do I need for a 58 cm head?

A 58 cm head circumference corresponds to Medium in all three model groups shown above. The correct fit should still be confirmed by trying the helmet on.

What size Viper helmet do I need for a 60 cm head?

A 60 cm head measurement corresponds to Large in the Viper models listed above. Check that the helmet fits securely without painful pressure points.

What size Viper helmet do I need for a 61 cm head?

A 61 cm head measurement corresponds to XL in the charts above. However, some models list XL at 61 cm while others use 61–62 cm, so it's worth checking the particular helmet.

Are Viper F656 and F659 helmet sizes the same?

They share the same published measurements from XS to Large, but the F656 lists XL at 61 cm while the F659 lists XL at 61–62 cm. The F659 chart also includes XXL at 63–64 cm.

What size is XL in a Viper F242 helmet?

XL in the Viper F242 corresponds to a head circumference of 61–62 cm. Its XXL / 2XL measurement is listed as 63 cm.

What size is XL in a Viper RSV95 helmet?

The Viper RSV95 lists XL at 61–62 cm. Always confirm the fit before riding.

Does the Viper RX-V288 use different sizing?

The RX-V288 uses the familiar XS to Large measurements, but its published XL reference is 61 cm. Check the specific model information rather than assuming XL extends to 62 cm.

Do Viper Bluetooth helmets need a different size?

Not simply because they have Bluetooth equipment. Different Viper Bluetooth helmet models may use different published size measurements, so always check the relevant chart and make sure the internal speakers don't create uncomfortable pressure.

Do Viper helmets loosen over time?

The comfort padding may compress slightly with regular use, but the protective EPS impact liner shouldn't be expected to change shape to accommodate your head.

What if my Viper helmet model isn't listed?

Check its original manufacturer's size information or contact RaceLeathers for advice. Viper has produced numerous helmets over the years, so don't assume every model uses the same measurements.
