Scorpion Exo Helmet Size Guide

Not sure what size Scorpion EXO motorcycle helmet you need? Measure your head circumference in centimetres, then check the correct size chart for your chosen helmet. Scorpion uses different sizing measurements across its helmet ranges, so a Medium or Large in one model won't necessarily fit the same as another.

This Scorpion EXO helmet size guide includes the manufacturer's Type A, Type B and junior size charts, along with practical advice on measuring your head and checking your helmet's fit.

Scorpion divides its motorcycle helmets into different sizing groups. Check which group your helmet belongs to before choosing a size. The measurements below are taken from Scorpion's European sizing guide.

Why Do Scorpion Helmet Sizes Vary Between Models?

Scorpion uses different size ranges for different helmet models and shell designs. This is why the manufacturer provides separate Type A and Type B sizing charts.

For example, a rider with a 60 cm head circumference would fall into Large in the Type A chart, but XL in the Type B chart.

That doesn't necessarily mean one helmet runs smaller than another. It means the size labels cover different measurements, and the internal shape and padding can also affect the fit.

Always check the chart for your particular Scorpion helmet model before ordering. Don't assume that your usual size in another brand, or even another Scorpion model, will be correct.

How to Measure Your Head for a Scorpion Helmet

You'll need a flexible tape measure, preferably the type used for sewing. If you haven't got one, use a piece of string and measure it against a ruler afterwards.

  1. Position the tape: Wrap it around your head approximately 2.5 cm above your eyebrows, passing above your ears and around the widest part of the back of your head.
  2. Keep it level: Make sure the tape sits flat against your head without pulling it excessively tight.
  3. Measure your head: Record the circumference in centimetres.
  4. Check again: Repeat the measurement two or three times to confirm the result.
  5. Find your helmet: Identify whether your chosen Scorpion model uses Type A, Type B or junior sizing.
  6. Choose your starting size: Compare your measurement with the correct chart and try the helmet on to confirm the fit.

If possible, ask someone to help you measure. It's surprisingly easy to position the tape incorrectly when you're doing it yourself.

How Should a Scorpion Motorcycle Helmet Fit?

A correctly fitted Scorpion EXO helmet should feel snug and secure without causing painful pressure points. The helmet should move with your head rather than sliding around independently.

  • Forehead: The lining should make firm, even contact without causing pain.
  • Cheeks: The cheek pads should feel snug against your face.
  • Crown: The helmet should sit properly on your head without noticeable gaps.
  • Movement: With the chin strap correctly fastened, gently move the helmet from side to side and up and down. It should remain secure.
  • Comfort: Wear the helmet indoors for a while to check whether uncomfortable pressure points develop.

How to Check if Your Scorpion Helmet Is Too Big

Scorpion recommends checking whether the helmet can roll forwards excessively on your head.

With the chin strap correctly fastened, gently try rotating the helmet forwards. If it can roll far enough for the top of the visor opening to move below your eyebrows, the helmet may be too loose.

Other warning signs include excessive movement, loose cheek pads and noticeable gaps around the crown.

If a helmet already feels loose when new, remember that the comfort padding may settle further with regular use.

How to Tell if Your Scorpion Helmet Is Too Small

A helmet that's too small may cause painful pressure around your forehead, temples or the sides of your head.

Some initial firmness is normal, particularly around the cheek pads, but persistent pain or uncomfortable pressure isn't something you should simply put up with.

The comfort padding can settle slightly with use, but the protective EPS liner isn't designed to compress to accommodate an incorrectly sized helmet.

What If You're Between Two Scorpion Helmet Sizes?

If your head measurement falls between sizes, or appears in two size ranges, check the sizing information for your exact Scorpion helmet model.

Try both sizes where possible. A motorcycle helmet should fit snugly without causing painful pressure points or moving excessively.

Don't automatically choose the larger helmet because it feels more comfortable when first tried on. Equally, don't force yourself into a helmet that causes pain.

Can You Wear Glasses With a Scorpion Helmet?

Many riders wear spectacles with their Scorpion helmets, although comfort depends on the particular model, your glasses and your head shape.

Try the helmet with your usual glasses whenever possible. Check that the arms don't create uncomfortable pressure around your temples.

Scorpion Helmet Sizing FAQs

Are Scorpion EXO helmets true to size?

Scorpion EXO helmets use different sizing measurements depending on the model. Always check whether your chosen helmet uses Type A or Type B sizing rather than assuming your usual helmet size will be correct.

What size Scorpion helmet do I need for a 58 cm head?

A 58 cm head circumference falls within Medium on the Type A chart. On the Type B chart, 58 cm appears in both Medium and Large. Check the particular model's fitting information and try the helmet on where possible.

What size Scorpion helmet do I need for a 60 cm head?

A 60 cm head circumference corresponds to Large on the Type A chart and XL on the Type B chart. This is why checking the correct chart is important.

Do all Scorpion helmets fit the same?

No. Scorpion uses different sizing groups for different helmet ranges, and the internal shapes and padding can vary between models.

Should a new Scorpion helmet feel tight?

A new Scorpion helmet should feel snug and secure, particularly around the cheeks, but it shouldn't cause pain or uncomfortable pressure points.

Do Scorpion helmets loosen over time?

The comfort padding can compress slightly with use, but the protective EPS liner shouldn't be expected to change shape to accommodate your head.

Are Scorpion junior helmet sizes different?

Yes. Scorpion provides a separate junior size chart covering YS, YM and YL. Always use the appropriate chart for the particular junior helmet model.
