Schuberth Helmet Size Guide

Schuberth motorcycle helmets use a different sizing scale from many other helmet manufacturers. For example, a 58 cm head measurement corresponds to a Large Schuberth helmet, whereas it may be a Medium in other brands. Always measure your head and use the Schuberth helmet size chart below rather than ordering the same size you wear in another make.

Schuberth Motorcycle Helmet Size Chart

Use the following Schuberth helmet sizing chart to find your starting size. Measurements are based on head circumference in centimetres.

Helmet Size Head Circumference
XS 52–53 cm
S 54–55 cm
M 56–57 cm
L 58–59 cm
XL 60–61 cm
2XL / XXL 62–63 cm
3XL / XXXL 64 cm+

Why Are Schuberth Helmet Sizes Different?

Schuberth uses its own size ranges, which don't always correspond with the letter sizes used by other motorcycle helmet manufacturers.

For example, a rider with a 57 cm head measurement would normally fall into a Medium Schuberth helmet, while a 58 cm measurement moves into Large. With some other brands, both measurements may fall within Medium.

This doesn't automatically mean Schuberth helmets run small. It means the size labels cover different head measurements. The internal helmet shape and padding also influence the final fit.

How to Measure Your Head for a Schuberth Helmet

You'll need a flexible tape measure, preferably the type used for sewing. If you don't have one, use a piece of string and measure it against a ruler afterwards.

  1. Position the tape: Wrap it around the widest part of your head, approximately 2–2.5 cm above your eyebrows and passing just above your ears.
  2. Keep it level: Make sure the tape sits flat against your head without being pulled too tightly.
  3. Measure the circumference: Record the result in centimetres.
  4. Check again: Repeat the measurement two or three times to confirm accuracy.
  5. Find your size: Compare your measurement with the Schuberth helmet size chart above.

If possible, ask someone to help you measure. It's surprisingly easy to position the tape incorrectly when you're doing it yourself.

How Should a Schuberth Motorcycle Helmet Fit?

A properly fitted Schuberth motorcycle helmet should feel snug and secure without causing painful pressure points. It should move with your head rather than sliding around independently.

  • Forehead and temples: The lining should make firm, even contact without creating uncomfortable pressure.
  • Cheeks: The cheek pads should feel snug against your face without causing pain.
  • Crown: There shouldn't be noticeable gaps between your head and the internal lining.
  • Movement: With the chin strap correctly fastened, gently move the helmet from side to side and up and down. It should remain secure.
  • Comfort: Wear the helmet indoors for a while to check whether pressure points develop.

Different Schuberth helmet models may have slightly different internal shapes and padding arrangements, so don't assume that every Schuberth helmet will fit identically.

What If You're Between Two Schuberth Helmet Sizes?

If your head measurement falls between two sizes, try both where possible. A motorcycle helmet should fit snugly without causing pain.

The comfort padding can settle slightly with use, but the protective EPS liner isn't designed to compress to accommodate an incorrectly sized helmet.

Don't automatically choose a larger helmet because it feels more comfortable when first tried on. Equally, don't force yourself into a helmet that causes painful pressure points.

How Do You Know If a Schuberth Helmet Is Too Big?

A helmet may be too large if it moves independently of your head, feels loose around the cheeks or slides on with very little resistance.

With the chin strap fastened, gently try moving the helmet forwards, backwards and from side to side. If it shifts excessively, the size or internal shape may not be suitable.

Remember that the comfort padding may settle further with regular use, so a helmet that's already loose when new isn't a good starting point.

How Do You Know If a Schuberth Helmet Is Too Small?

A helmet that's too small may cause painful pressure around the forehead, temples or sides of your head.

Some initial firmness is normal, particularly around the cheeks, but persistent discomfort isn't something you should simply put up with.

Can You Wear Glasses With a Schuberth Helmet?

Many riders wear spectacles with their Schuberth helmets, although comfort depends on the particular model, your glasses and your head shape.

Try the helmet with your usual glasses whenever possible. Check that the arms don't create uncomfortable pressure around your temples.
