Please note: These are Merlin's general helmet sizing measurements. Not every model is produced in every size. The larger 3XL and 4XL sizes are available in selected models, including the Blackbird range.
How to Measure Your Head for a Merlin Helmet
You'll need a flexible tape measure. If you haven't got one, a piece of string and a ruler will do.
- Wrap the tape around the widest part of your head, approximately 2–2.5 cm above your eyebrows and just above your ears.
- Keep the tape level and comfortably snug, without pulling it tight.
- Read your head circumference in centimetres.
- Check your measurement against the Merlin size chart above.
It's worth measuring twice to make sure you've got it right.
How Should a Merlin Motorcycle Helmet Fit?
A Merlin helmet should feel snug and secure without causing painful pressure around your forehead or temples.
The internal padding should make even contact with your head. If it's a full-face helmet, the cheek pads should feel firm without causing discomfort.
With the chin strap fastened, gently move the helmet from side to side. It should move with your head rather than sliding around independently.
Remember that helmet comfort padding can settle slightly with use. A helmet that's already loose when new is unlikely to get any better.
If your measurement falls between two sizes, try both wherever possible. The correct fit matters more than the letter on the label.

Does the Merlin Falcon Fit the Same as the Sentinel?
The Merlin Falcon open-face helmet and Sentinel full-face helmet use the same published head circumference measurements.
However, they have different shell designs and internal padding. This means the same letter size may feel slightly different between the two helmets.
Other Merlin models, including the Blackbird, Revival and Torres, also follow the manufacturer's general helmet sizing system.
Always try your chosen helmet on where possible rather than assuming it will feel identical to another model.
