Alpinestars Motorcycle Trousers Size Guide

Not sure what size Alpinestars motorcycle trousers you need? For men's trousers, measure around your waist and compare your measurement with the relevant Alpinestars size chart below. For women's Stella trousers, use both your waist and hip measurements.

This guide covers men's and women's Alpinestars motorcycle trousers, including waterproof textile, touring, leather sports trousers and protective motorcycle jeans. Some models use letter sizes, others use European (EU) or numbered sizes, so check which sizing system your chosen trousers use.

Alpinestars Men's Textile Motorcycle Trousers Size Chart

This chart covers men's Alpinestars textile motorcycle trousers labelled with sizes such as Small, Medium, Large and XL. These include touring and adventure ranges such as the Andes Drystar trousers.

Trouser Size Waist Circumference
XXS / 2XS 63–69 cm
XS 69–75 cm
S 75–81 cm
M 81–87 cm
L 87–92 cm
XL 92–97 cm
XXL / 2XL 97–102 cm
3XL 102–107 cm
4XL 107–112 cm
5XL 112–117 cm
6XL 117–122 cm

Example: If your waist measures 85 cm, the chart suggests a Medium.

These are body measurements, not the actual dimensions of the trousers. Not every model is manufactured in every size. The cut can also differ between textile trousers, so use this chart as a starting point and check the fit of your chosen model.

Alpinestars Men's Leather Motorcycle Trousers EU Size Chart

Many Alpinestars leather motorcycle trousers, including the Missile range, use European sizes such as 46, 48, 50 and 52.

Some Alpinestars trousers and motorcycle jeans use numbered sizes such as 30, 32 and 34. The chart below shows the corresponding EU sizes and waist measurements.

EU Size (Numbered Size) Waist Circumference
40 (24) 64–68 cm
42 (26) 68–72 cm
44 (28) 72–76 cm
46 (30) 76–80 cm
48 (32) 80–84 cm
50 (34) 84–88 cm
52 (36) 88–92 cm
54 (38) 92–96 cm
56 (40) 96–100 cm
58 (42) 100–104 cm
60 (44) 104–108 cm
62 (46) 108–112 cm
64 (48) 112–116 cm

Example: If your waist measures 86 cm, the chart indicates EU 50, corresponding to an Alpinestars numbered trouser size 34.

Please note: The numbered sizes are Alpinestars' published trouser-size equivalents. They shouldn't be confused with an exact waist measurement in inches.

Leather motorcycle trousers are often designed for a closer fit than touring trousers. Their stretch panels and pre-shaped legs can also affect how they feel when standing compared with sitting on the motorcycle.

Not every leather trouser model is available in every size shown.

Alpinestars Stella Women's Motorcycle Trousers Size Chart

Alpinestars Stella motorcycle trousers are designed for women riders and use a separate sizing chart.

This chart covers the general women's Alpinestars clothing measurements, including Stella textile and leather motorcycle trousers. The numbered sizes shown are the manufacturer's trouser-size equivalents.

Stella Size Waist and Hip Measurements
XS
EU 36 / 22
Waist: 58–64 cm
Hips: 82–88 cm
S
EU 38 / 24
Waist: 64–70 cm
Hips: 88–94 cm
M
EU 40 / 26
Waist: 70–74 cm
Hips: 94–98 cm
L
EU 42 / 28
Waist: 74–78.5 cm
Hips: 98–102.5 cm
XL
EU 44 / 30
Waist: 78.5–83 cm
Hips: 102.5–107 cm
2XL
EU 46 / 32
Waist: 83–88 cm
Hips: 107–112 cm
3XL
EU 48 / 34
Waist: 88–93 cm
Hips: 112–117 cm
4XL
EU 50 / 36
Waist: 93–98 cm
Hips: 117–122 cm

Example: A waist measurement of 81 cm and hip measurement of 105 cm suggest XL, equivalent to EU 44 or numbered size 30.

If your waist and hip measurements suggest different sizes, try both neighbouring sizes wherever possible. The trousers need to fit comfortably while keeping the protective armour in the correct position.

Not every Stella trouser model is available in all the sizes listed above.

How to Measure Yourself for Alpinestars Motorcycle Trousers

You'll need a flexible tape measure. Take your measurements over light clothing rather than bulky motorcycle gear.

  1. Waist: Measure around your natural waist, approximately in line with your belly button. Keep the tape horizontal and comfortably snug.
  2. Hips: For women's Stella trousers, measure around the widest part of your hips and bottom, approximately 20 cm below your waist.
  3. Inside leg: Measure from your crotch down the inside of your leg towards your ankle.
  4. Thigh: Measure around the fullest part of your upper thigh if the trousers have a particularly close-fitting cut.
  5. Compare: Use the appropriate Alpinestars size chart above to find your starting size.

It's worth measuring twice to make sure you've got it right.

How Should Alpinestars Motorcycle Trousers Fit?

Alpinestars motorcycle trousers should feel secure without restricting your movement or creating uncomfortable pressure around your waist, hips or thighs.

When trying them on, check that:

  • The waist fastens comfortably without being excessively loose.
  • The trousers allow you to bend your knees and sit comfortably on your motorcycle.
  • The knee protectors remain correctly positioned when your legs are bent.
  • Any hip protection sits in the correct position.
  • The trouser legs provide suitable coverage when seated on the motorcycle.
  • The lower legs fit correctly with your motorcycle boots.

Motorcycle trousers often rise slightly at the ankles when you're sitting on the bike, particularly on motorcycles with a more sporting riding position.

Always check the fit in your normal riding position rather than relying on how the trousers look when you're standing.

Do Alpinestars Leather and Textile Trousers Fit Differently?

Yes. Although Alpinestars provides general body measurements, the fit can vary considerably between different types of motorcycle trousers.

Leather sports trousers, including the Missile range, are designed for a closer fit and often have pre-shaped legs and stretch panels.

Waterproof textile trousers, including the Andes Drystar range, generally provide more room for movement and thermal layers.

Protective motorcycle jeans can have different waist heights and cuts, just like ordinary jeans.

Don't assume that the same size will feel identical across every Alpinestars model. Use the correct sizing system for your chosen trousers and try them on wherever possible.

Alpinestars Motorcycle Trousers — Short, Regular and Long Leg

Some Alpinestars motorcycle trousers are available in different leg lengths, including short, regular and long versions.

The leg-length option changes the length of the trousers rather than simply making them a larger or smaller waist size.

Choose your waist size first, then check which leg length provides the best coverage when sitting on your motorcycle.

Different models may have different leg-length options, so always check the particular product listing before ordering.

Should Your Alpinestars Jacket and Trousers Be the Same Size?

Not necessarily.

Alpinestars jackets and trousers are sized using different body measurements. A rider may need a Large jacket based on their chest measurement but Medium trousers based on their waist.

Always choose the jacket and trousers separately using the correct size charts.

If you're buying a matching set, check that the connection zips are compatible and that both garments fit correctly when worn together.
