Alpinestars Motorcycle Gloves Size Guide

Not sure what size Alpinestars motorcycle gloves you need? Measure around the palm of your hand, just below your knuckles, and compare your measurement with the Alpinestars glove size charts below.

This guide covers Alpinestars motorcycle gloves for men and women, including leather racing gloves, waterproof touring gloves, summer gloves and the Stella women's range.

Important: Alpinestars glove sizes are based on hand circumference, not the width of your hand when laid flat. Measure around your palm, excluding your thumb.

Alpinestars Men's Motorcycle Gloves Size Chart

This chart covers men's Alpinestars motorcycle gloves, including sports, racing, touring, waterproof and summer ranges.

Glove Size Hand Circumference
S 17.2–19.7 cm
M 19.7–21 cm
L 21–22.3 cm
XL 22.3–23.5 cm
XXL / 2XL 23.5–24.8 cm
3XL 24.8–27.3 cm

Example: If your hand circumference measures 22 cm, the chart suggests a Large pair of Alpinestars motorcycle gloves.

These measurements provide a starting point for choosing your size. Not every Alpinestars glove is manufactured in every size, and different models may fit slightly differently.

Alpinestars Stella Women's Motorcycle Gloves Size Chart

Alpinestars Stella motorcycle gloves are designed specifically for women riders, with their own sizing measurements.

The Stella range includes leather, summer, waterproof and touring motorcycle gloves.

Stella Glove Size Hand Circumference
XS 15.8–17.2 cm
S 17.2–18.4 cm
M 18.4–19.7 cm
L 19.7–21 cm
XL 21–22.3 cm

Example: If your hand circumference measures 19 cm, the Stella chart suggests Medium.

Women's Stella gloves use different sizing measurements from the men's range. Always use the correct chart rather than assuming a Medium in one range is identical to a Medium in the other.

How to Measure Your Hands for Alpinestars Gloves

You'll need a flexible tape measure. If you haven't got one, use a piece of string and measure it with a ruler afterwards.

  1. Wrap the tape around the widest part of your palm, just below your knuckles with your hand flat.
  2. Keep your thumb outside the measurement.
  3. Hold the tape comfortably snug without pulling it tight.
  4. Read your hand circumference in centimetres.
  5. Measure both hands and use the larger measurement as your starting point.
  6. Compare your measurement with the men's or Stella size chart above.

Measure twice to make sure you've got it right.

Remember: You're measuring around your hand, not straight across the palm.

How Should Alpinestars Motorcycle Gloves Fit?

Alpinestars motorcycle gloves should feel snug and secure without restricting your fingers or creating uncomfortable pressure around your knuckles.

When trying them on, check that:

  • Your fingers fit comfortably without being tightly pressed against the ends.
  • You can make a fist and grip your motorcycle's handlebars.
  • The palm doesn't bunch up excessively when holding the grips.
  • Any knuckle protection sits correctly over your knuckles.
  • The wrist fastening holds the glove securely in place.
  • You can comfortably operate the throttle, clutch, brake and switches.

Try the gloves with your usual motorcycle jacket wherever possible, especially if you're buying long-cuff sports or touring gloves.

Do Alpinestars Leather and Waterproof Gloves Fit Differently?

Although Alpinestars uses a general glove sizing system, different materials and designs can affect how a particular model feels.

Leather sports and racing gloves are generally designed for a close fit. The leather may soften and ease slightly with use, but you shouldn't rely on it stretching enough to correct the wrong size.

Waterproof touring and winter gloves may contain additional membranes and insulation, making them feel thicker than lightweight summer gloves.

Winter gloves also need enough room for the insulation to work effectively without restricting movement.

If you're between sizes, try both wherever possible rather than automatically choosing the larger or smaller size.

Are Alpinestars Stella Gloves Just Smaller Men's Gloves?

No. The Stella range is designed around women's hand proportions, rather than simply reducing the overall size of a men's glove.

Depending on the model, differences in palm shape, finger proportions and construction can affect the fit.

That's why the Stella gloves have their own size chart.

The best choice is whichever glove fits your actual hand securely and comfortably, regardless of the size label.
