Richa Motorcycle Clothing

Recently viewed products

The Richa name dates back to 1956, beginning with leather gloves before growing into one of the broadest motorcycle gear ranges around.

At RaceLeathers, the Richa range covers textile and leather jackets, motorcycle trousers, riding jeans, gloves, boots, heated clothing, waterproofs, base layers, armour and plenty of other useful bits.

In other words, there is rather more to it than one black touring jacket and a matching pair of trousers.

Richa gear covers everything from sensibly priced kit for new and everyday riders to premium GORE-TEX® clothing for people who regard torrential rain as an inconvenience rather than a reason to leave the bike at home.

Richa Motorcycle Jackets

Richa motorcycle jackets for men and motorcycle jackets for women riders cover commuting, touring, adventure riding, sports riding and warmer summer use.

The range includes traditional textile touring jackets, highly ventilated mesh designs, leather jackets, waterproof softshells and casual-looking motorcycle hoodies that contain rather more protection than the average one bought from the high street.

Depending on the model, features may include:

  • GORE-TEX® or Aquashell waterproof construction
  • D3O® shoulder, elbow and back protection
  • Removable thermal linings
  • Adjustable ventilation panels and zips
  • Jacket-to-trouser connection zips
  • Stretch panels and adjustment at the arms and waist
  • Reflective detailing
  • Shorter sports cuts or longer touring cuts

The exact equipment varies between jackets. Not every Richa jacket is waterproof, not every membrane is laminated and not every model includes the same level of armour.

That is why reading beyond the logo and the colour is generally a good idea.

Richa Motorcycle Trousers & Riding Jeans

Richa motorcycle trousers include waterproof touring designs, ventilated summer trousers, leather sports trousers, softshell styles and protective cargo trousers.

The range also includes motorcycle jeans in different cuts, colours and leg lengths for riders who want proper protection without looking as though they are about to cross a continent every time they stop for a brew.

Selected Richa trousers are available in short, regular and long leg versions. That matters because knee armour only earns its keep when it sits over your knee, rather than hanging around somewhere near your shin hoping for the best.

Some Richa trousers come with knee and hip armour fitted, while others may allow the protection to be upgraded or added separately. Always check the individual product specification.

Richa Motorcycle Gloves

Richa started with gloves, and the modern range still covers just about every sort of road riding.

You will find lightweight summer gloves, leather sports gloves, waterproof touring gloves, heavily insulated winter gloves and heated options for riders whose fingers stop cooperating once the temperature drops below mildly unpleasant.

Selected models use GORE-TEX® waterproofing, D3O® impact protection, leather palms, touchscreen-compatible fingertips and visor wipes.

Glove fit is particularly important. Too loose and they can bunch around the controls. Too tight and your hands may become uncomfortable or cold because the insulation and blood circulation are being squashed into submission.

Richa Motorcycle Boots

The Richa motorcycle boots range includes long touring boots, waterproof road boots, sports-bike boots and shorter urban styles.

Depending on the model, you may find GORE-TEX® or Aquashell waterproofing, D3O® ankle protection, reinforced heels and toes, gear-change pads and oil-resistant or slip-resistant soles.

Some riders need a tall waterproof boot for long-distance touring. Others want something shorter and easier to walk around in once they get off the bike.

Neither choice is automatically right or wrong. It depends on where you ride, what trousers you wear and how much protection and weather coverage you want.

The boot also has to fit your foot, ankle and calf. Apparently, human beings do not all emerge from the same mould. Motorcycle clothing manufacturers continue to investigate.

GORE-TEX®, Aquashell and Waterproof Richa Gear

Richa uses several different waterproof systems across its range.

Selected premium products use GORE-TEX® membranes, while other models use Richa’s own Aquashell waterproof technology. Some membranes are fixed, some removable and some laminated directly to the outer material.

These constructions behave differently.

A laminated jacket usually absorbs less water into the outer material and can dry more quickly. A removable membrane offers greater flexibility because it can be taken out in warm weather. A fixed drop-liner can provide dependable waterproofing at a more affordable price.

There is no single construction that is perfect for every rider.

A year-round commuter may place waterproofing near the top of the list. Someone riding mainly through summer may prefer stronger ventilation and accept carrying a separate waterproof layer.

British weather occasionally provides the opportunity to test both arrangements on the same afternoon.

D3O® Protection

D3O® armour is used throughout much of the Richa range, including selected jackets, trousers, gloves and boots.

The material remains flexible during normal use but is designed to absorb and disperse impact energy when struck. This allows armour to remain relatively comfortable without becoming a collection of rigid plastic dinner plates strapped around your joints.

Protection levels and supplied armour vary between products.

A jacket may include Level 1 shoulder, elbow and back protection, while another may provide Level 2 armour or allow individual protectors to be upgraded. Some trousers include hip armour, while others are merely prepared to take it.

Check what is actually supplied rather than assuming every item with D3O® mentioned in the description contains the same protectors.

We also stock replacement and upgrade motorcycle body armour where compatible.

Richa Heated Motorcycle Clothing

For riders who continue through winter, Richa also offers heated motorcycle clothing powered by Gerbing® technology.

The Inferno range includes heated inner jackets and gloves designed to run from a suitable motorcycle power connection, with battery options available for selected products and setups.

Heated clothing does not make January feel like July, but it can prevent a cold ride from becoming a long and miserable lesson in poor decision-making.

Richa Gear for Different Sizes and Shapes

One of the useful things about Richa is the breadth of sizing available across parts of the range.

Selected men’s textile clothing is produced in sizes extending well beyond the usual small-to-3XL offering, while many trousers are available in short, regular and long leg lengths. Richa also produces dedicated ranges for women riders rather than simply shrinking a men’s jacket and changing the label.

Availability varies by model, colour and current stock, but the wider choice gives us a much better chance of finding something that fits properly.

A size chart is a useful starting point. It is not a legally binding agreement between the label and your body.

Different models can have different cuts, and the layers you wear underneath also affect the fit.

Proper Fit Still Matters

Motorcycle clothing needs to fit closely enough to keep the armour in position without being so tight that you cannot move properly, operate the bike or breathe without submitting a written request.

A jacket should be checked with your arms in a riding position. Trousers should be tested with your knees bent, and the armour should sit over the joints it is designed to protect.

At RaceLeathers, we can help check:

  • The overall jacket and trouser fit
  • Where the shoulder, elbow, back, hip and knee armour sits
  • Whether short, regular or long leg trousers are most suitable
  • How the jacket and trousers connect and overlap
  • Whether boots fit correctly beneath or over the trouser leg
  • Whether gloves allow comfortable use of the controls
  • Which waterproof construction best suits your riding
  • Whether you genuinely need the dearer option

Sometimes spending more buys exactly the performance and features you need.

Sometimes the cheaper Richa product fits better and does everything required.

There is no prize for leaving with the largest receipt.

Which Richa Gear Is Right for You?

The best Richa motorcycle clothing depends on the riding you actually do.

A daily commuter may need dependable waterproofing, warmth and visibility. A long-distance tourer may prioritise all-day comfort, ventilation and storage. A summer rider may prefer mesh panels and lighter construction, while a sports-bike rider may want leather, close-fitting armour and fewer pockets capable of carrying half the contents of the garage.

Think about the complete outfit rather than buying every item separately.

Your gloves need to work with the jacket cuffs. Your boots need to work with the trousers. The jacket and trousers should overlap or connect properly, and the layers underneath should not turn the whole thing into an overfilled parcel.

That means the same model, colour and size, genuinely in stock and available to buy.

We cannot react to a price we do not know about. Once you show us, we can do something about it.
